OLD TOWN FIESTA CINCO DE MAYO - Over a 5 year period of time, i re-developed, secure more than 20 media partners, and dozens of corporate partners, raising attendance to more than 300,000 people, and sponsorship to $350,000.
SCRIPPS STEPHEN BIRCH AQUARIUM - Developed a multi year corporate and media partnership program designed to expand public information, advertising, marketing, and promotions. Also developed extensive partnerships in the support of school outreach including the developments of a planet earth express mobile classroom. The program resulted in in a rapid and widespread increase in visits and educational outreach for the aquarium.
MOODY GARDENS - One of my earliest projects in my agency Catalyst was the development of primary visitor venues at Moody Gardens in Galveston Texas. The anchor corporate partners in this program included Texaco who funded the developments of a 40 story pyramid enclosure of a rain forest ecosystem and later aquarium and butterfly encounters.
TEXAS OPEN - My agency was hired to develop sponsorship and media for the PGA tour second oldest events the Texas open. At the time we were hired the events have been held at Oak Hills country club in San Antonio. However the event was in jeopardy as it was losing its major sponsor H.E. butt supermarkets and miller brewing company. I negotiated a move of the event from Oak Hills to the new USAA owned La Cantera in San Antonio. Along with this change we were one of the first events to secure Tiger Woods and subsequently we signed Anheuser-Busch as a major sponsor and retains the sponsorship and promotion of HE but supermarkets. USAA then became a primary sponsor of this PGA Tour event.
CITY OF SAN DIEGO - I was hired by the city of San Diego following the change of name from Christmas on the Prado to December nights. The name change resulted in a drop off in attendance and sponsorship. When I came on board, I took on the task of re-marketing, positioning securing media partners, and developing new corporate sponsorships. I developed and managed structural changes to the events including a reduction in the number of days, the inclusion of Christmas and Christmas traditions throughout the event, more than two dozen media partnerships including Hispanic media, and a dramatic increase in corporate sponsorships across a wide range of partners. The result was a successful event from aid in attendance to sponsorship dollars and community wide and regional awareness.
CALIFORNIA STATE PARKS - I worked with my clients the California state parks to develop a first of its kind cross-border series of events to celebrate the San Diego Tijuana river valley estuary and environmental stewardship along the border region. The event created focused on region wide cross-border education, the celebration of the border region cultures, and conservation. Major sponsors included Sempra Energy and Coca Cola.
